is the Datai Bay Golf Club and then there’s the Langkawi Golf
Club with its rolling hillsand trimmed garden’s closer to
khua town

Horse riding Stables can be found at the northern end of
the island and beach rides prove popular. There are a number of
hotels on the island that also offer horse and pony rides. Ask at
the Langkawi Tourist Bureau in Kuah for more information on the
popular activity.

Langkawi
International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) Held
in October bi-annually you can see a display of the latest and most
sophisticated equipment and technology of the global aerospace and
maritime industries. Both defense and civil manufacturers display
their latest wares, including the worlds most advanced aircraft
and defense systems, to prospective international buyers. But it
is not just business, aerial stunts and demonstrations offer excellent
entertainment while the legendary island of Langkawi provide duty
free shopping, beaches and sea sports.

Water sports Other than beach related water activities
such as sailing, windsurfing and jet ski hire, all of which can
be found on the island’s beaches and at beachfront hotels.
Langkawi has its own water-sports complex at Pantai Chenang where
one can experience the thrill of zooming down water slides into
a pool at their base.

Boat trips Nearly all the west coast beaches have places
offering island tours and the like. Some hotels have in-house arrangements
offering similar activities.

Cave exploration Some boat trips also offer cave exploration
on their list of things to do. As the islands in the area are riddled
with caves this can be a great ‘family’ outing.

Night Activities Like to try out your skills or swing the
night away? There are a number of nightclubs and discos scattered
around the island worth an evening out

Pulau Singa Besar is an island that has been turned into
a nature park come animal sanctuary where visitors can view monkeys,
deer, iguanas and peacocks roaming about freely (no cages). Picnic
on the pristine beaches and enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the
surroundings waters.

Taman Lagenda This scenic park with its beautiful gardens
of vivid local blooms, plants and fruit trees provides a picturesque
and fitting backdrop for buildings showcasing Malaysia's rich cultural
heritage.
The Islands Some nearby islands can be reached
at low tide on foot. A short journey by boat brings you to Gua
Cherita (cave of legends), on its walls, ancient writing
can be seen which have yet to be deciphered.
Swimming and Sailing can be done at almost all
the beaches on Langkawi's west coast. One of the quieter spots is
Casuarina Bay
on the northern cape of Langkawi island. Idyllic beaches, such as
Pantai Kok, becon one to go swimming.
Perfect for the whole family and a little 'out of the way' it is
quiet enough to find your own secluded spot somewhere on this stretch
of yellow sand. Other popular spots are Pantai Cenang,
Pantai Tengah, Datai and Burau Bay,
offering carefree sun filled days and quiet evening strolls or you
can rent a sailing catamaran and scoot across the waves at alarming
speeds under wind-power.
Then of course if you are into the more serious stuff there's always
the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, based at Latitude : 6° 18.2'
N Longitude : 99° 51.1' E Next to Kuah Jetty, Langkawi. Here
you can make arrangements to charter a yacht either within Malay
waters or further afield.
Dive
sites are plentiful in the area and the following are the
more popular ones: Lembu RockThere are
plenty of groupers here amongst numerous other ocean going monsters
as well as a number of reef fish etc. Kaca
to be found north east of Payar is where the remains of seven sunken
fishing boats can be found. Barracuda schools, snappers and black-tip
reef sharks hang around here in there hundreds. Lobster
Garden as the name implies, this is the spot to view
these crustaceans in their natural environment, rather than on your
dinner plate. Pulau Segangtang. A 10 minute
boat ride from Pulau Payar, this site is rougher than the others,
but is good for wall diving and bigger fish life including barracudas,
jacks, leopard sharks and whale shark. This site is also home to
a lot of lionfish. Tyre reef off Pulau
Segangtang, is another popular dive spot.
Jet Skiing Although there are
a tremendous amount of folk who are totally against this 'dangerous
sport' (dangerous
to those swimming in the water near where folk use these machines)
it's popularity in Malaysia is extensive...so much so that Langkawi
holds the National Jet Ski championships every year. WHEN
RENTING A JET SKI PLEASE NOTE: Be aware
of others swimming in the water near the jet ski area...DO NOT use
any boats anchored off-shore as 'marker buoys' to zoom around, not
only could you hit a yacht or similar vessel and be liable for VERY
COSTLY repairs but there are often divers in the water, near such
vessels, that won't see you till you hit them.
